DALLAS, Pa. - Junior Christian Woobay (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) notched two goals for the Lycoming College men's soccer team during the first half, which helped Lycoming secure a 2-0 win against Misericordia University at Mangelsdorf Field, on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m.
After a corner kick by Lycoming (4-1 overall) and a scrum in front of the goal, sophomore Aidan Stillman (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) lifted a lobbed cross in front of the goal where Woobay quick-flicked a header into an open net 13:45 into the first half.
In the 34th minute, Woobay launched the Warriors' second goal into the high left corner, as he got the ball with just enough space to blast in a shot from 25 yards out.
In the net, first-year Jace Bennett (Falling Waters, W.Va. / Spring Mills) stopped two Misericordia shots in the shutout. The Cougars' Santino Jannotte also made two saves.
While Misericordia notched five shots, Lycoming (4-1 overall) launched 20 shots at the Cougars' net with Woobay leading the team with seven shots fired. Lycoming also held a 12-6 advantage in corner kicks.
