ERIE, Pa. – Sophomore
Aidan Stillman (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) and junior
Christian Woobay (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) assisted on each other's second-half goals to lift the Lycoming College men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Penn State Behrend in the championship game of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament at Behrend Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 1.
Â
The Warriors (2-0 overall), who held a 19-6 advantage in shots against the 2023 ECAC finalists, pressured throughout the game, posting eight corner kicks while yielding none.
Â
It wasn't until the 64
th minute when the Warriors got on the board, though, as Stillman put a corner kick into play to the far side of the box, where junior
Cole Sharpnack (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) headed it to the near post for a waiting Woobay flicked it into the net.
Â
Nine minutes later, Woobay got into the box and worked near the end line before passing to Stillman, who took one quick touch and fired a curving laser into the right corner.
Â
First-year
Jace Bennett (Falling Waters, W.Va./Spring Mills) stopped three shots in his second shutout of the weekend. Evan Dougal stopped five shots for Penn State-Behrend (1-1 overall).
Â
