Warriors notch win in season opener against Baldwin-Wallace

ERIE, Pa. - Sophomore Aidan Stillman (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) fired in the game-winning goal for the Lycoming College men's soccer team 43 minutes into the first half, which secured the team's first win in the tenure of first-year head coach John Schwien, as Lycoming downed Baldwin-Wallace, 1-0, in the opening game of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament at Penn State Behrend on Saturday, Aug. 31.

The Warriors move into the championship game of the tournament on Sunday, Sept. 1, at 2:30 p.m., as they take on host Penn State Behrend.

Junior Christian Woobay (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) assisted Stillman on the game-winner, setting up the play with some fancy footwork inside the 18-yard box, firing a pass to Stillman in the goal mouth, where he connected with a quick two-touch into the lower left corner.

Lycoming fired nine shots throughout the game, four during the first half and five in the second, with junior Keller Chamovitz (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley), senior Jaeden Asare (Letterkenny, Ireland/Perry Hall (Md.)) and Stillman each taking two. The Warriors defense held Baldwin-Wallace to five shots, one in the first half and four during the second.

First year Jace Bennett (Falling Waters, W.Va./Spring Mills) served as Lycoming's goalie, where he notched three saves.

Baldwin-Wallace's Diego Teran made four saves.

Both Lycoming and Baldwin-Wallace (0-1 overall) completed two corner kicks during the first half and none during the second.
