Warriors upend Pitt-Greensburg in season opener

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Mikayla Long (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) scored the game-winning goal in the 56th minute as the Lycoming College women's soccer team came back to post a 2-1 win in the season-opener at Pitt.-Greensburg at Ridilla Field on Friday afternoon, Aug. 30.

Freshman Riley Gesinski scored the first goal of the game for Pitt-Greensburg, assisted by senior Sarah Tonkovich in the 16th minute, but the Warriors drew even before halftime with sophomore Ella Magee (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) scoring Lycoming's first goal with 2:30 left in the opening period, firing a dart high into the center of the net.

Magee assisted Long on the game-winner in the second half, which came 10 minutes into the period for the Warriors (1-0 overall).

In net for the Warriors, senior Abbey Gerasimoff (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) played the first half before junior Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) stopped two shots in the second. Paige John stopped five shots for the Panthers (0-1 overall).
