Ebel helps Warriors down Juniata, 5-4

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Lycoming College women's tennis team captured its second win of the season and its first in Landmark Conference play at Juniata College, with first-year Abigail Ebel (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) providing the fifth point in a 5-4 decision on Tuesday afternoon, April. 9 at the Raffensperger Tenis Courts.

The Warriors won two of the three double matches. Junior Sarah Lanphear (Chittenango, N.Y./ Chittenango) and junior Rei Saar (Montoursville, Pa./ Montoursville Area) won 8-3 in their No.2 doubles match to kick of the dual match. Senior Hiyori Iai (Zushi, Japan/ Yokohama Science Frontier) and Ebel won No.3 doubles by default.

Saar won her No.3 singles match 7-6 (3), 6-2 over Charley Madlock. Lai won the No.5 singles match 7-5, 6-1 over Marilyn Ogof and Ebel closed out the dual match with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No.6 singles over Sheveta Kalathur.

The Warriors improve to 2-9 overall and 1-4 in the Landmark. Juniata College fell to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in the Landmark.

The Warriors will be back in action Saturday, April 13 as they visit Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference play at 1 p.m.
