ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Charging in as the ball hit the grass, senior
Kylie Segraves (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) picked it up and threw a 100-foot dart to junior catcher
Rachel Daub (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale Area), who picked it up and lunged to her left to tag the tying Elizabethtown College runner out at the plate to seal a 3-2, eight-inning Lycoming College softball team win, as Lycoming split a doubleheader with Elizabethtown on Saturday, April 6, at the Nest. The Blue Jays won the first game, 3-0.
Down 3-1 heading into the bottom of the eight, Elizabethtown (7-11 overall, 3-3 Landmark) rallied with a leadoff single from Brooke Huczko. After a sacrifice bunt and a popout, Jenna Davis drew a walk before Kassidy Kehoe singled up the middle to drive in Huczko. Skye Zolomij followed with a looping popout out of reach of the Lycoming's second base, but Segraves picked the ball up on a hop and fired in a throw that beat Davis to the plate by nearly 10 feet.
The Warriors (9-6 overall, 2-2 Landmark) broke a tie at one in the top of the eighth, with Daub starting the rally when she was hit by a pitch. After Daub stole second, junior
Avery Eiswerth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) followed with a single to left to put runners on corners. After Eiswerth stole second, sophomore
Mallory Rodarmel (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock Township) reached on a fielder's choice that didn't yield an out. The next batter flew out to second base, and the infielder fired a strike to home to catch Daub trying to tag up. When the catcher wandered towards the mound as the play wound down, Eiswerth alertly took advantage of the open bag and scored the go-ahead run. Sophomore
Alex Eckerson (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) drilled a single into left center to score Rodarmel and make it 3-1.
The Warriors tied the game at one in the fifth after the Blue Jays took the lead with an unearned run in the fourth. Sophomore
Claire Alexander (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) hit an infield single with two outs before she stole second and scored on a single to center from Segraves.
Alexander went 3-for-4 with a run and Segraves was 2-for-3 with a RBI to lead the Warriors, who had 10 hits in the game. Emily Polimeni had two hits for the Blue Jays.

All three Blue Jay runs came across in the third inning, as Huczko went 2-for-3 with a run and Polimeni went 2-for-3 with two RBI, capping the third with a two-RBI triple.
