WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Wins in three singles matches helped the Lycoming College women's tennis team tie the match with one still on the court, but King's College was able to prevail, 5-4, in non-conference action at Brandon Park on Friday, April 26.
The doubles team of sophomores
Emma Kelchner (Nescopeck, Pa./Central Columbia) and
Cassandra Conner (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon) came back from a 7-4 deficit to win in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (4) at No. 3, beating Emma Rooney and Anagrace Schwartz.
In singles play, first-year
Abigail Ebel (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) notched a 6-0, 6-3 win over Sarah Stettler at No. 6 to tie the match at 2 before junior
Rei Saar (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) improved to 7-3 this year with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Jacki Costello at No. 3. Senior
Hiyori Iai (Zushi, Japan/Yokohama Science Frontier) added a 6-1, 6-1 win over Emma Rooney for Lycoming's fourth point at No. 5 singles.
Lycoming fell to 3-13 and King's improved to 6-9.
The Warriors wrap up the 2023-24 season on Sunday, April 28, when they host McDaniel at 12 p.m. at Brandon Park.
