Stauffer reaches milestone in 18-11 win over Wilson

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa – Senior Zoe Stauffer (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) became the third goalkeeper in program history to reach 500 career saves, making seven stops in the fourth quarter alone, to allow the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team pull away with an 18-11 win over Wilson College on Saturday, March 9, at UPMC Field.
 
Stauffer reached the mark with her seventh of 12 saves and she is now two saves shy of passing Nicole Gerling (2014-17) for second in program history with 507 career stops.
 
Junior Katie Maguire (Garnerville, N.Y./ Albertus Magnus) led a group of five Warriors (3-0 overall) who had hat tricks with five goals, as she added four draw controls. Junior Alexa Baldwin (Bel Air, Md./ Harford Tech) posted three goals to go with seven assists for her second-straight 10-point game. Sophomore Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) added four goals, an assists, six ground balls, 10 draws and three caused turnovers and junior Kailey Stocker (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) added three goals, an assist and three ground balls. Senior Alyssa Zorbaugh (York, Pa./West York) also added a career-high three goals.
 
The Warriors (3-0 overall) fell behind by two goals in the first minute, but took the lead with 5:37 left in the opening quarter off the first score from Maguire on a free-position shot. Wilson tied the game at five and again at seven with 8:13 left in the opening half, but the Warriors scored five of the last six goals in the half, with Stocker scoring off a dish from Baldwin to make it 12-8 at the break.
 
The Warriors never the Phoenix within four goals in the second half, allowing just three goals while Stauffer made 10 saves in the last 30 minutes. Meanwhile, Lycoming scored the game's last three goals to expand the lead to a game-high seven goals at the final buzzer.
 
Senior Jess Shaver (Luzerne, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) posted five ground balls and caused two turnovers and Stauffer also had four ground balls for Lycoming. Senior Ali Klube (Bloomfield, N.Y./Bloomfield) also caused two turnovers.

Wilson (2-1 overall) was led by three goals a piece from Anna Gibson and Sage Lague, who also added six draw controls. Jill Ahlgren had two assists, nine ground balls, six draws and six caused turnovers. Krystal Kienast and Kaelyn Goff combined for eight saves.
 
The Warriors hit the road for Hilton Head, S.C., as they face Wheaton College on Tuesday, March 12, at 10 a.m.
