Block, Maguire reach milestones as Warriors down King’s 18-8

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Eight members of the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team scored on Wednesday night, March 20, as Lycoming downed King's College, 18-8, at McCarthy Stadium.

Sophomore Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J./ Morris Catholic) and junior Katie Maguire (Garnerville, N.Y./ Albertus Magnus) each posted five goals to lead the Warriors. Junior Alexa Baldwin (Bel Air, Md./ Harford Tech) followed with two goals and led the team with five assists.

Block and Maguire each reached milestones in the game, as Block reached 100 career points with a third quarter goal and Maguire became the seventh player in program history to reach 150 career goals when she dented the twine with 2:46 left.

The Warriors (4-1 overall) also got at least one goal from junior Kailey Stocker (Ringwood, N.J./ Lakeland Regional, two goals, one assist), senior Jess Shaver (Luzerne, Pa./ Wyoming Valley West, one goal), first-year Amina Abbas-Uddin (Beltsville, Md./ CMIT Academy North, one goal), senior Alexandria Horafus (Sewell, N.J./ Washington Township, one goal) and senior Riley Cranmer (Butler, Pa./ Butler Area, one goal), plus senior Alyssa Zorbaugh (York, Pa./West York) contributed an assist..

In the third period the Warriors shut out the Monarchs, while scoring four goals to double their lead to eight goals, 13-5, heading into the fourth period. King's cut that down to six through the first six minutes of the quarter, but Lycoming scored five of the last six goals to increase the lead to 10 goals by the game ended.

King's College (1-6 overall) was led by Chloe Burke with four goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Sidney Bush made eight saves and faced 30 shots.

Senior goalkeeper Zoe Stauffer (Lititz, Pa./ West York) finished with 15 saves, facing 31 shots.

Maguire led the team with five ground balls, two caused turnovers and eight draws. Stocker and Stauffer each scooped up four ground balls.

The Warriors will be back in action at UPMC Field as they open Landmark Conference play against The Catholic University of America at 1 p.m., on Saturday, March 23.
