Baldwin assists, nets record in 21-15 defeat of Buffalo State

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Alexa Baldwin (Bel Air, Md./ Harford Tech) posted nine assists, the second-most in school history, and adding four goals to finish with a school-record 13 points, as the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team downed Buffalo State, 21-15, in non-conference action at UPMC Field on Saturday afternoon, March. 2.

Baldwin broke the program record of 12 points, last accomplished by Hailey Kimble in 2019 against Arcadia, topping a record that had been in existence for 24 years that had been tied seven times. She came up one assist shy of Heather Suit's 10-helper effort against St. John Fisher in 2006.

Sophomore Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J./ Morris Catholic) scored seven goals and added two assists, as she had four goals in the first half of the game.

In the first half, the Warriors (2-0 overall) piled up 13 goals, five of which were assisted by Baldwin. At halftime, the Warriors led, 13-6. Three minutes into the third quarter, the Warriors advanced the score to 16-6 before Buffalo State scored four straight goals, but six was as close as the Bengals could get.

Vanessa Willick led the Bengals with six goals. The Bengals used two of their goalkeepers, both facing a combined 36 shots and making four saves.

Senior goalkeeper Zoe Stauffer (Lititz, Pa./ Warwick) faced 30 shots and made 13 saves. Stauffer is now seven saves away from reaching 500 in her career.

The Warriors will be back at UPMC Field when they host Wilson College on Saturday, March 9, at 1 p.m. in a non-conference game.
