NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – A five-run second and four-run third inning were enough to help the Lycoming College softball team power past Division II Thomas Jefferson University, 9-0, in five innings in the team's 2024 opener at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon, March 10.

Senior center fielder
Kylie Segraves (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) moved within a hit of 90 in her career, as she went 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI, junior catcher
Rachel Daub (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale Area) went 2-for-4 with two RBI and she also threw a runner out stealing and placed a tag on a runner tagging up to preserve the shutout in the fourth inning off a throw from Segraves. Sophomore first baseman
Kristen George (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) also went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Junior
Avery Eiswerth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) (1-0) pitched four shutout innings, allowing six hits and a walk while striking out two before yielding to senior
Kylie Russell (Cogan Station, Pa./Jersey Shore Area), who tossed a scoreless fifth while allowing a hit and striking out two.

Sophomore left fielder
Mallory Rodarmel (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock Township) and sophomore second baseman
Alex Eckerson (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) walked to start the second inning before George and Russell reached on errors to bring in the first run. After a flyout, Segraves hit a single up the middle to bring in two runs and Daub followed with a single off the pitcher to score another run. A two-out error helped Segraves cross the plate.

In the third, Eckerson led off with a single before George singled through the right side and Russell reached on an error to load the bases. After a fielder's choice, Segraves hit an RBI single to short and Daub singled through the left side to make it 7-0. After a flyout, Eiswerth delivered a two-RBI single to make it 9-0.

Although the Rams (1-4 overall) notched seven hits, only two reached third base in the contest, as seven were left stranded in the contest.

Rozalee Negron and Remy Smith each had two hits for the Rams. Jordan Diering (0-1) took the loss, allowing six hits, three walks and two earned runs in 2 1/3 innings.

The Warriors continue their Spring Break trip, facing the Mississippi University for Women at 9 a.m. and Mount Aloysius at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 11, at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex.
