Six Warriors in double figures as they down Goucher, 86-72

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Steven Hamilton (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) paced a group of six Lycoming College men's basketball players in double figures, as he posted 20 points and eight assists in an 86-72 Landmark Conference win over Goucher College on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 3.
 
Hamilton, who moved within 36 points of 1,000 in his career, shot 8-of-13 from the field and paced a Lycoming offense that shot 52 percent (32-of-62) from the field, its best mark of the season. First-year Hayden Pardoe (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) posted 13 points and seven rebounds, senior Brendon Blackson (Laurel, Md./Laurel) added 12 points, sophomore J.J. Beagle (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) added 11 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season, junior Ivan Komitski (Sofia, Bulgaria/Lee Academy) added 11 points and sophomore Isaiah Valentine (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) added 10 points, three assists and three steals for the Warriors (7-14 overall, 3-11 Landmark).
 
Goucher (7-14 overall, 5-9 Landmark) led 18-9 nearly 10 minutes into the game before a 3-pointer from Komitski got Lycoming started on a 12-1 run capped by a layup from Pardoe just over two minutes later. Lycoming led the rest of the game, though, Goucher closed within a point twice more in the first half, the last time at 27-26 with 4:08 left. Pardoe hit a jumper to start a run of six straight points that helped the Warriors take a 39-32 lead into halftime.
 
After a Goucher bucket to open the second half, the Warriors scored went on a 10-1 run that ended with a Blackson 3-pointer to make it 49-35. Goucher closed within 10 three more times, but the Warriors countered each time, with a Hamilton jumper with 8:40 left giving Lycoming a 10-point lead for the last time at 67-57, before they expanded the lead to as many as 20 with 3:54 left.
 
Jacob Morgan led the Gophers with 16 points and six rebounds and Darrell Green added 13 points and six assists.
 
Goucher shot 41 percent (24-of-58) from the field in the loss and held a seven-rebound advantage (38-31), but the Warriors held a 17-4 lead in points off turnovers and a 44-36 lead in points in the paint.
 
The Warriors are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 7, when they face Susquehanna in Landmark Conference action at 7 p.m., in Lamade Gym.
