Lockard posts career-high against Catholic

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Emily Lockard (Benton, Pa./ Benton Area) had a career-high 21 points to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball team, which fell to 10th-ranked Catholic University of America, 76-45, in Landmark Conference action on Saturday, Feb. 17, at Lamade Gym.

Lockard had her eighth double-double of the season, grabbing 14 rebounds and adding four blocks and one steal. Lockard put up 11 points in the first half and 10 in the second.

Before the final game of the season, seniors Jillian Pumputis (Westminster, Md./ Westminster), Mia Rudalavage (Eynon, Pa./ Valley View) and Lockard were all honored. Pumputis followed Lockard with six points, as she hit two 3-pointers. Rudalavage also had two points and a rebound.

Junior Alicia Goldenziel had six rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

Catholic (24-1 overall, 16-1 Landmark) went on a 23-6 run in the second quarter, opening up a 15-point halftime lead after Pumputis hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer at the end of the first quarter to give Lycoming an 18-16 lead.

Lycoming kept the game close in the third quarter, closing within 11 in the last minute of the period with a 3-pointer from junior Mya Wetzel (Frackville, Pa./North Schuylkill), but Catholic opened up the game in the fourth, outscoring Lycoming, 25-8.

Four players finished in double figures for the Cardinals - Sarah White (11), Kerry Flaherty (16), Carly Mulvaney (14) and Keegan Douglas (10). Anna Scoblick led in rebounds with nine. 

Junior Meghan Dufner (Washington, N.J./ Warren Hills Regional) posted five points and sophomore Kami Abdo (Pottsville, Pa./ Nativity BVM) and junior Ashley Yoh (Myerstown, Pa./ Eastern Lebanon County) both put up four points for the Warriors, who finished the season 12-13 overall and 6-12 in their first year in the Landmark Conference.
