WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Steven Hamilton (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) led the Lycoming College men's basketball team with 23 points to finish with 1,033 in his career, but a solid-shooting second-half by 19th-ranked Catholic University of America helped it separate from Lycoming in an 80-57 Landmark Conference win at Lamade Gym on Saturday, Feb. 17.

Hamilton shot 9-of-19 from the field in the contest, adding two steals. Senior Mavin James (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) chipped in eight points and three rebounds and senior Brendon Blackson (Laurel, Md./Laurel) added seven points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals, as the trip played their final game with the Warriors (9-15 overall, 5-13 Landmark).

Sophomore J.J. Beagle (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) added eight points, nine rebounds and two blocks and sophomore Isaiah Valentine (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) added six points.

The Warriors opened the game with six straight points and led 13-6 after James canned a 3-pointer eight minutes in and by seven four minutes later off a layup from Hamilton, but Catholic (22-3 overall, 16-2 Landmark) responded with eight straight points to start a 20-6 run to end the half with a 34-27 lead.

James' second 3-pointer with 15:32 left made it 41-36 and the Warriors were within six with 14:01 left before the Cardinals went on a 17-point run to make it 63-40 with 8:17 left. Catholic led by at least 20 the rest of the way.

Jesse Hafemeister led the Cardinals, who will be the top seed in next week's Landmark Conference Championship, with 32 points and Dan Buckley posted 10 rebounds and six assists. Brian Herbert notched 11 points and nine rebounds.
