WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Two Lycoming College men's soccer players — junior Christian Woobay (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) and senior Jaeden Asare (Letterkenny, Ireland / Perry Hall (Md.)) — received Third Team All-Region V honors from the United Soccer Coaches for their efforts in 2024, the organization announced on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Finishing the 2024 season with 10 goals and six assists for a total of 26 points, Woobay became the first Warrior to reach 25 points in a season since Jordan Logan posted 30 points in 2015. The junior forward also became the first Lycoming College men's soccer player to secure 10 goals in a season since Sainclair Tueno in 2017. The 6-2 forward finished second in the Landmark Conference in points, fifth in assists, and tied for second in both goals and game-winning goals (5). A First Team All-Landmark Conference pick, Woobay is the first Warrior forward to earn all-region honors since Keller Chamovitz was a third team pick in 2022.
Asare posted two goals during the 2024 season, helping the Warriors tie against the conference's regular-season champs, Juniata, and post a victory over Gettysburg. He also played a key role in the Warriors' defense, which pitched eight shutouts and finished second in the league with a 0.841 goals-against average en route to earning First Team All-Landmark Conference honors. He is the first Warrior midfielder to earn all-region honors since Jared Moses was a second-team pick in 2019.
The Warriors ended the 2024 season with a 10-5-5 overall and a 4-3-2 mark in the Landmark Conference, finishing the regular season by reaching 10 wins for the third straight season under first-year head coach John Schwien.
