Valentine earns All-Tournament Team honors at Hawks for Hunger Tip-Off

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Junior Isaiah Valentine (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) finished with 20 points to earn All-Tournament Team honors and lead the Lycoming College men's basketball team, which fell to Buffalo State, 69-63, in the consolation game of the Hawks for Hunger Tip-Off Tournament at Hafner Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 9.

Senior Ivan Komitski (Sofia, Bulgaria/Lee Academy) finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and two steals and sophomore Hayden Pardoe (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) added 12 points and six rebounds, as Lycoming (0-2 overall) shot 39 percent from the field (23-of-59). First-year Brian Kopp (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) posted eight points and sophomore Ethan Bomgardner (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) added six points and six rebounds.

After the team's fought to a tie at 10, the Bengals went on a 20-4 run to lead 30-15 with 4:53 left in the first half. The Warriors cut that lead down to nine by halftime at 34-25 thanks to a fastbreak layup from Kopp as time expired on the half.

A 3-pointer from sophomore Misaias Herrera (Katy, Texas/Katy Jordan) made it 42-39 with 12:40 left. The Bengals were able to go on a 19-10 run in the next 10 minutes to lead by 12 with 1:53 left. The Warriors closed within six with 36 seconds left off a pair of free throws from Komitski, but that was as close as they could get.

Bryce Williams led the Bengals with 17 points and five assists and Zee Johnson added 10 points and eight rebounds. Chisom Ani had six points, seven rebounds and two steals.

The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Nov. 13, when they head to Keuka College for a 7 p.m. non-conference game.
