WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Hayden Pardoe (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) led a group of four Lycoming College men's basketball players in double figures with 20 points, but a high-octane, pressing Haverford College was able to post a 100-87 non-conference win at Lamade Gym on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 16.

Pardoe also chipped in a career-high 14 rebounds, three assists and two blocks, as Lycoming (0-4 overall) shot 43 percent (32-of-75) from the field. Junior Isaiah Valentine (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) added 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals, senior Ivan Komitski (Sofia, Bulgaria/Lee Academy) added 12 points, four rebounds and three assists and sophomore Connor Shanahan (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) posted 15 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Haverford (2-1 overall), playing the Grinnell offense, fired up 84 shots in the contest and forced 14 turnovers with its press. Gaven Marr led the Fords with 27 points, Harry Johnson added 15, Ali Kaan Bek 14 and Adam Strong-Jacobson added 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Lycoming jumped out to a 13-7 lead in the game's first three minutes, but a Marr jumper at the 13:55 mark gave Haverford the lead, 18-17, and it expanded to 38-28 with 7:26 left before the Warriors closed within a point off a free throw from first-year Noah Mathis (Ewing, N.J./Notre Dame) at 43-42 with 3:03 left. Back-to-back 3-pointers from the Fords helped it lead 53-46 at the break.

In the second half, the Warriors closed within a point three times before the Fords went on a 20-9 run to lead by 11 with 8:40 left and by 15 with 5:54 left. The Warriors cut the deficit to single digits just one in the final minutes.
