Warriors sweep at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. – Senior Brynne Bisel (Julian, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) led the Lycoming College volleyball team with 10 kills and 10 digs for her ninth double-double of the season as Lycoming swept Goucher College, 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-9), in Landmark Conference action at Decker Sports and Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5.
 
Bisel was one of four Warriors (7-9 overall, 1-1 Landmark) to finish with five or more kills, with junior Cameron Upcraft (Spring Mills, Pa./Penns Valley) adding eight kills, three aces and four blocks and senior Camryn Quelet (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) and first-year Angela Farnham (La Plata, Md./McDonough) each adding five kills. Farnham also added two blocks.
 
Senior Kendall Myers (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) posted five aces, sophomore Haley Balgavy (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) posted 20 assists and six digs and sophomore Ima Mercado (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) added 13 assists and four digs. Senior Ali Koval (Mansfield, Pa./North Penn-Mansfield) added 17 digs.
 
Lycoming hit .214 (36-12-112) and held Goucher (0-13 overall, 0-2 Landmark) to a .060 (28-21-117) hitting percentage, also posting 11 aces and seven blocks in the three-set match.
 
Lycoming held Goucher to a negative hitting percentage in the first and third sets, but needed to mount a comeback from down 19-17 in the second, as sophomore Alli Macensky (Galeton, Pa./Galeton Area) served up five straight points before Bisel added two more on her serve to give Lycoming a 24-20 lead en route to the 25-22 victory.
 
Alex Dzhygit led the Gophers with seven kills, Vivian Huddleston posted 15 assists and Athena Savick posted 24 digs.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Friday, Oct. 11, when they host Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action at 7 p.m.
