Warriors keep the Boot with 3-1 win against Susquehanna

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – A pair of second-half goals helped the regionally-ranked Lycoming College men's soccer team's post a 3-1 win in the Battle of the Boot against Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action at UPMC Field on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5.

Entering the second half with a tied score, senior Kenny Clapp (Baltimore, Md. / Archbishop Curley) scored into the left corner of the net, assisted by junior Christian Woobay (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) and senior Joe Bamfo (Lake Grove, N.Y. / Connetquot). From the right side of the field, Clapp launched the ball across the net into the lower left corner.

Sophomore Aidan Stillman (Silver Spring, Md. / Albert Einstein) iced the game by launching his goal into the left corner, securing the Warriors another win, which brings their overall record to 7-2-2 and their Landmark Conference record to 2-0.

To begin the scoring, Woobay launched a penalty kick into the bottom right side of the net, avoiding the goalie's lunge and securing the Warriors' first goal in the 11th minute.

In net for the Warriors, first-year Jace Bennett (Falling Waters, W.Va. / Spring Mills) made three saves against Susquehanna in the first half and one during the second. For the River Hawks, goalie Tony Burns saved six shots.

The Warriors notched 18 shots with five coming from Woobay and three from Stillman. The River Hawks launched seven shots in return. The Warriors took 13 corner kicks to the River Hawks' eight.

Max Paczewski, assisted by Tom O'Keefe, tied the game 25 minutes into the first half.

The Warriors return to UPMC Field on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. for Landmark Conference play against Scranton, ranked seventh in the United Soccer Coaches' Region V poll, one slot ahead of the Warriors.
