Daly secures golden goal against Juniata in double OT

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Seven minutes into the second overtime, sophomore Ava Daly (Camp Hill, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) notched a goal on a rebound of a shot, securing the Lycoming College field hockey team's 2-1 victory in Landmark Conference play against Juniata College on Tuesday evening, Oct. 15, at UPMC Field.

In the 77th minute, Juniata's goalkeeper saved a shot rocketed by sophomore Loghan Shelly (Manheim, Pa. / Manheim Central), but Daly snagged the rebound on the weakside and finished the game by hitting the wood in the back of the net.

The Warriors' first goal came nine minutes into the third quarter when junior Riley Marines (East Berlin, Pa. / Bermudian Springs) delivered a successful penalty stroke, which tied the score 1-1.

In net for the Warriors  (7-6 overall, 2-3 Landmark), junior Isabella Bobé (York Springs, Pa. / Bermudian Springs) notched 20 saves. Six of Bobé's saves came in the fourth quarter, leading to overtime play, when she added nine more stops.

Lycoming launched 13 shots. Shelly, Daly, and Burton led Lycoming's efforts, posting two shots each. The Warriors launched 13 shots throughout regular and overtime play.

Juniata goalkeeper Amanda Puza saved nine shots. The Eagles (4-8 overall, 3-2 Landmark) took 27 shots, with Kaylyn Walters securing the team's only goal in the ninth minute of the first quarter.  

Lycoming accumulated seven penalty corners to the Eagles' 12.

The Warriors travel to Washington D.C., on Saturday Oct. 19, to compete in Landmark Conference play against the Catholic University of America at 1 p.m.
