Shahan scores fifth goal of the year at Houghton

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – A late third-quarter goal by sophomore Autumn Shahan (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Charter) made it a two-goal game, but Houghton University scored the final goal late in the fourth quarter to post a 4-1 non-conference win at Burke Field on Wednesday night, Sept. 6.
 
Shahan posted her fifth goal of the season to stay amongst the top five goalscorers in the Landmark Conference off a give from sophomore Juliana McGovern (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) in the final minute of the third quarter to close within 3-1, after Houghton scored the game's first three goals.
 
Bekah Davie led the Highlanders (3-0 overall) with three goals and Jace Hunzinger had two assists.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Isabella Bobé (York Springs, Pa./Bermudian Springs) posted a season-best 10 saves in the contest for the Warriors (1-2 overall). Annika Galen earned the win for the Highlanders, posting one save in 31 minutes.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, Sept. 9, when they host Keuka College at 11 a.m. Senior Nevaeh Wertman (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) will be honored prior to the game for her contributions to the program as the team's first senior since 1992.
