Clapp on: Warriors down Susquehanna, 2-0, in the Battle of the Boot

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Senior Kenny Clapp (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) assisted on both of the Lycoming College men's soccer team's goals and Lycoming retained the Boot for the eighth straight year as it downed Susquehanna University, 2-0, in the first Landmark Conference game between the river valley rivals on Saturday night, Sept. 30.

The Warriors (5-3-3 overall, 2-0 Landmark) moved into a two-way tie with Elizabethtown (4-3-2 overall, 2-0 Landmark) at the top of the conference standings as the last two undefeated teams in the conference.

Lycoming got on the board just 33 seconds into the game, as Clapp sprinted to the baseline and crossed a pass in that found the head of senior Brayden Wise (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) on the far post.

In the second half, Clapp again was the catalyst on a Warrior score, as he again drove in to the goalline on the right sideline before sending a pass to the out to the top of the goal box, where sophomore Christian Woobay (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) drilled a shot into the right corner.

The Warriors held a 12-8 advantage in shots in the game, forcing Susquehanna keeper Tony Burns to make four saves. Senior Nick Wilke (Mercerville, N.J./Notre Dame) pitched his sixth shutout of the season and the 16th of his career to move into fifth alone in program history, as he also made four saves.

The Warriors get back on the field on Wednesday, Oct. 3, when they head to the University of Scranton for a 7 p.m. Landmark Conference game.
