SCRANTON, Pa. – Senior
Javan Aching (Upper Marlboro, Md./International HS at Langley Park) found the ball at his feet in the goal box and delivered a scoring strike in the first minute of the second half to lift the Lycoming College men's soccer team to a 1-0 Landmark Conference win over the University of Scranton on Tuesday night, Oct. 3, at Weiss Field.
The Warriors (6-3-3 overall, 3-0 Landmark) posted their seventh shutout of the year, as senior
Nick Wilke (Mercerville, N.J./Notre Dame) posted two saves off five Royals' shots in his 17
th career blank sheet.
Lycoming's goal came off pressure to start the second half with a cross into the box that fell off a defender before it found the feet of Aching, who fired it into the net.
Charlie Smith stopped one shot for the Royals (6-2-2 overall, 0-2-1 Landmark) in goal, as Lycoming took five shots in the contest.
The Warriors are back on the field on Saturday, Oct. 7, when they host Moravian University in Landmark Conference action at 1 p.m. at UPMC Field.
