McGovern, Hannon score as Warriors shutout Lancaster Bible, 2-0

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Julianna McGovern (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) and first-year Carmen Hannon (Aldie, Va./John Champe) scored in the second quarter to lead the Lycoming College field hockey team, which won its fourth game of the year, 2-0, over Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday night, Sept. 26, at UPMC Field.

Lycoming improved to 4-4 with the win, just one win shy of the school record of five, last approached by the 1989 team, as five teams had reached that mark in the original incarnation of the program from 1972-92, before the program was restarted in 2022.

The Warriors were the aggressors throughout the game, holding a 13-2 advantage in shots, forcing Lancaster Bible goalkeeper Amanda Hoover to stop nine shots in the game.

Lycoming got both goals within 90 seconds of each other, as McGovern tipped in a cross by junior Halie Woodring (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) less than two minutes into the second quarter and Hannon finished off a 2-v-1 breakaway, knocking in a pass from sophomore Riley Marines (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs.
Sophomore Isabella Bobé (York Springs, Pa./Bermudian Springs) stopped one shot in her second shutout of the year.

The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, Sept. 30, when they host Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action at 1 p.m. at UPMC Field.
