Warriors picked seventh in Landmark Coaches’ poll

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Lycoming College women's soccer team was selected to finish seventh in the  Landmark Conference Preseason Coaches' poll, the conference announced on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

Scranton was the unanimous pick to win its fourth straight Landmark Conference championship. Susquehanna (69), Drew (65), Catholic (52), Moravian (48) and Elizabethtown (47) are positioned to take the other five spots in the conference championship tournament and Lyoming (34), Wilkes (22), Goucher (21) and Juniata (11) round out the poll.

Coming off a season where Lycoming won a school-record 12 games and earned the program's first postseason berth and NCAA Regional Ranking, the team will move into the Landmark Conference looking to extend its record run of three straight 10-win campaigns.

To do that, the Warriors will have to replace their two top goal scorers in 2022, but with seven players returning that found the back of the net last year, the team could use that balanced offense to its advantage, especially with three starters returning on a stingy defense that helped junior goalkeeper Abbey Gerasimoff (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) post a school-record seven shutouts.

The Warriors open the season at the Penn State Altoona Tournament, facing the Lions at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, before taking on Westminster at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2.
