Maguire hits 100-point milestone against Delaware Valley

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – A  goal from just outside the goal crease at 14:18 in the second quarter helped sophomore Katie Maguire (Garnerville, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) reach 100 career points, as the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team ran past Delaware Valley University, 18-2, in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday night, April 5, at UPMC Field at Keiper Stadium.

Maguire is the 21st player in program history to reach the mark, doing so in just 26 career games. She finished the night with five goals, an assist, a ground ball, and five draw controls. First-year Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) led the Warriors with a career-high seven goals, an assist, caused a turnover, and won two draw controls and sophomore Kailey Stocker (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) posted three goals, an assist, and two ground balls. Sophomore Alexa Baldwin (Bel Air, Md./Hereford Tech), junior Jess Shaver (Luzerne, Pa./Wyoming Valley West), and senior Tess Arnold (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira) all notched a goal, as Baldwin posted three assists.

Arnold notched her 100th draw control win, leading the Warriors (5-4 overall, 2-0 MAC Freedom) through the game with 11, becoming the 11th Warrior to reach the mark.

Maguire kicked off an eight-goal run in the first quarter as the defense shut down the Aggies (3-7 overall, 1-2 MAC Freedom), allowing zero goals. Both Block and Maguire completed hat tricks in the first quarter. Baldwin, rolling around the right post got a shot over the shoulder of Aggies goalkeeper at 13:15 with Stocker scoring two minutes later from the top of the crease.

An early goal in the second quarter from Maguire had the Warriors up by nine before the Aggies scored. The Warriors scored another three times before the Aggies scored their second goal. Arnold nailed a shot in the far corner of the goal as she came across the top of the arc with 11:32 left in the second. Shaver, catching a pass from junior goalkeeper Zoe Stauffer (Lititz, Pa./Warwick)  in the Warriors' defensive zone, ran the field for a clear that lead to an easy shot on the cage.

Block and Maguire put up a combined three goals in the third. The final goal of the game was scored by Stocker in the fourth quarter, catching a high pass from Baldwin at the front of the goal.

Ashley Birmingham and Viola Anderson scored for the Aggies.

Stauffer earned the win, making seven saves on 13 shots. Caroline Berg made five saves on 28 shots.

The Warriors return to the field on Friday, April 7, when they host Manhattanville College in non-conference action at 6 p.m. at UPMC Field at Keiper Stadium.
