Warriors set to start MAC Freedom Championship at Arcadia

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Reaching the postseason for the ninth time in program history and the second year in a row, the fifth-seeded Lycoming College women's lacrosse team will open its run in the MAC Freedom Championship on Monday, May 1, when it heads to fourth-seeded Arcadia University for a 7 p.m. game.
 
The winner of Monday's game will move on to face the championship's top seed, Stevens Institute of Technology, on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in a semifinal in Hoboken, N.J.
 
Admission to each round of the championship has the following ticket prices:
Adults - $5
Senior Citizens - $4
Students (Valid ID) & Children - $2
Pre School (under 6) with adult – FREE
 
The Warriors are fourth in the conference with an average of 12.25 goals per game and third with a 12.94 goals against average.
 
The offense is paced by four players with more than 35 points, with sophomore Katie Maguire (Garnerville, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) leading the team and sitting third in the MAC Freedom with an average of 3.94 goals per game and 5.94 draw controls, as the midfielder has developed into one of the most dynamic players in the league.
 
First-year Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) has been a welcome complement to Maguire, sitting sixth in the league with 3.19 goals per game and seventh in the league with 4.13 points per game, as she became the fifth Warrior rookie to score 50 goals in the team's last game against FDU-Florham on April 30.
 
Sophomore Alexa Baldwin (Harford Tech) has also become a prominent part of the offense, as she is 15th in the league in points per game (2.81) and sixth in assists per game. Sophomore Kailey Stocker (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) has also added 31 goals this season and two others have more than 15 points.
 
The team's defense is paced by three players in the top six in the MAC Freedom in caused turnovers, with senior Madison Wineburg (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) second in the league in both caused turnovers (1.63) and groundballs (3.50). Junior Rylie Cranmer (Butler, Pa./Butler) is fifth in the league (1.19) and senior Tess Arnold (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira) is sixth (1.14). Arnold is also 13th in the league in draw controls (3.07).
 
In net, junior Zoe Stauffer (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) is fourth in the league in goals against average (12.94) and save percentage (.452), while she leads the league with an average of 10.69 saves per game.
 
Arcadia enters the postseason with an 8-9 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the MAC Freedom and the team is riding a four-game win streak that started with a 14-9 win over the Warriors on April 15. The Knights are sixth in the league with an average of 10.24 goals per game and are also sixth, as they allow 13.49 goals per contest.
