Warriors earn MAC Freedom Championship bid during final game

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – First-year Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) scored four goals to lead the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team, which clinched a spot in the MAC Freedom Championship, but fell to first-place FDU-Florham, 16-8, during the regular-season finale for both teams on Saturday, April 29.

The Warriors (8-8 overall, 4-4 MAC Freedom) clinched the No. 5 seed at the MAC Freedom Championship and will head to No. 4 seed Arcadia University (8-9 overall, 5-3 MAC Freedom) for a 7 p.m. game on Monday night, May 1, clinching the spot due to Arcadia's 20-11 win over DeSales on Saturday. FDU-Florham (9-8 overall, 7-1 MAC Freedom) enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed, despite tying with No. 1 Stevens and No. 2 Misericordia for the No. 1 spot in the conference standings.

Block became the fifth Warrior rookie to reach 50 goals in a season with her third of four goals in the game, joining Kelly McGinniss (2016, 66), Sarah Wingerden (59, 2006), Katie Maguire (58, 2022) and Megan McIntyre (50, 2007).

Sophomore Katie Maguire (Garnerville, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) added two goals to give her a team-leading 63 on the season and sophomore Alexa Baldwin (Bel Air, Md./Harford Tech) added an assist to move into ninth in program history with 26 assists this year.

The Devils jumped out with the game's first five goals before sophomore Kailey Stocker (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) got the Warriors on the board with a transition goal with 7:18 left in the first quarter. The Devils led 9-2 at the end of halftime, but two yellow cards led to goals from junior Rylie Cranmer (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) and Maguire to make it 9-4 and Maguire's free-position goal with 3:39 left made it a four-goal game heading into the final quarter.

The Devils, however scored six of the eight goals in the last period, to separate with the Warriors and earn the win.

Junior Zoe Stauffer (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) finished with 14 saves, giving her 171 on the season, tied for seventh-most in program history. Maddy Apap earned the win, stopping five shots in the first half for the Devils.
