DALLAS, Pa. – Junior

Rachel Daub (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale Area) hit a bases-clearing fifth-inning triple to lead the Lycoming College softball team to a 6-1 second-game win over first-place Misericordia University in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday, April 26, at Anderson Field.
Â
Russell (12-4) retired 10 in a row from the third to the sixth innings, finishing the conference season with a 7-0 mark with a save, striking out 53 and walking six in 49 2/3 innings. Russell struck out eight and walked none in the complete game.
Â
The Warriors finished the game with a 22-12 overall record and a 12-4 mark in the MAC Freedom, a half-game behind Misericordia (22-10 overall, 11-3 MAC Freedom) and a game ahead of King's (20-12 overall, 10-4 MAC Freedom). Misericordia faces DeSales on Thursday and King's faces FDU-Florham on Saturday in their final MAC Freedom doubleheaders with conference championship seeding on the line.
Â
In the fifth inning, Russell led off when she was hit by a pitch before first-year
Claire Alexander (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) reached on a bunt single. After a wild pitch, senior
Morgan Wetzel (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) walked to load the bases, setting up Daub, who drilled a triple to right center. An error on the next play allowed Daub to score to make it 5-1.
Â
In the seventh, Wetzel and Daub singled to lead off the inning. After a sac bunt, first-year
Mallory Rodarmel (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) singled to left to score the team's sixth run.
Â
Alexander went 2-for-3 with a run, Wetzel went 2-for-3 with two runs and Daub went 2-for-3 with a run and four RBI to lead the Warrior offense. Kaitlin Redling went 2-for-3 for Misericordia.
Â
Emily Wenner (6-3) pitched six innings for the Cougars, allowing six hits and four earned runs. She struck out two.
Â
Down 8-1 at the end of four innings, Lycoming roared back with six runs in the fifth and sixth frames, bringing the tying run to the plate throughout the sixth and seventh innings, but couldn't draw even in an 8-7 setback.
Â
The Warriors began to rally in the fifth inning when Russell reached on a single up the middle with one out before junior
Kylie Segraves (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) drew a two-out walk, setting up a single through the left side by Wetzel. An error on a fielder's choice allowed both Russell and Segraves to score.
Â
In the sixth, first-year
Hailee Sobieski (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) led off with a walk before Rodarmel and first-year
Kristin George (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) walked to load the bases for Russell, who delivered a two-RBI double. A sac fly from Segraves and an RBI single from Wetzel got Lycoming back within a run, but that was as close as Lycoming could get.
Â
Alexander led the game off with a single and Segraves followed with a bunt single, allowing Alexander to reach third. A double steal attempt allowed Alexander to score and give Lycoming a 1-0 lead, but the Cougars scored six in the second, capped by a grand slam from Redling.
