Anderson reaches milestone as Warriors drop Misericordia, 8-1

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Jason Anderson (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) became the fourth Lycoming College men's tennis player to reach 10 singles wins in consecutive seasons as he helped Lycoming to an 8-1 win over Misericordia University in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday, April 12, at Brandon Park.

Anderson improved to 10-4 on the year with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Peyton Argot, as Lycoming (5-5 overall, 3-0 MAC Freedom) won all six singles matches to win their third straight conference match for the first time since a three-game win streak to finish the MAC Commonwealth schedule in 2011, when the team finished in second in the league. The third conference win also surpasses the two conference wins the team had between 2019-22.

Anderson now has 27 singles wins in his career, which enters the top 10 in program history in a tie for ninth with Greg Bussey (1970-74) and Bill Harper (1966-70).

Anderson teamed with junior Connor Albaugh (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) to post an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles and sophomores Mohamed Ebeid (Cairo, Egypt/Egyptian British International) and Matthew Baldridge (Damascus, Md./Damascus) posted an 8-2 win over Karol Bialek and Chase Cavanaugh at No. 3.

In singles play, senior Nathan Redell (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) posted a 6-1, 6-4 win over Zach Hemond, coming back from down 4-1 in the second set at No. 1 singles. Junior Luke Leach (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) notched a 7-5, 6-1 win over Dalton Alexander at No. 2 to clinch the match. Albaugh posted an 8-1 win at No. 4, first-year Domanick Young (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) posted an 8-5 win at No. 5 and first-year Josh Neidert (Reading, Pa./Oley Valley) added an 8-3 win at No. 6.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, April 15, when they host Stevens in MAC Freedom action at 1 p.m.
