Ben Franco (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) stopped 15 shots and the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team forced 29 Wilkes University turnovers to help lead the team to a 6-3 MAC Freedom win on Wednesday night, April 12, at UPMC Field.

Five Warriors found the back of the net with senior
Owen Zimmerman (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) posting two goals, an assist, a ground ball, and a caused turnover to lead the offense, finishing the game four goals behind Dan Wilcox (146) for second on the all-time scoring list. Junior
Max Anderson (Harrisburg, Pa./Homeschooled), sophomore
Joey Hoover (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area), sophomore
Sean Farrell (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic), and junior
Evan Unser (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) all scored a goal each. Anderson had two ground balls and Farrell notched an assist.

Senior
Josh Hall (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) led the team with eight ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Scoring the first goal of the game with three minutes remaining in the first quarter, the Colonels held a short-lived lead as Zimmerman tossed in a deep shot from just inside the restraining line to tie the game with 2:37 left in the opening period.

Unser gave the Warriors their first lead of the night, catching a pass from Farrell, shooting from out above the goal arch in the second quarter. The Warrior defense held the Colonels scoreless in the second quarter, heading into the half up 3-1 as Zimmerman picked up a ground ball and cut across the arch for a shot from the right of the crease for his second goal of the game with 1:48 left in the half.

Hoover put the Warriors back up by two with a goal in the third quarter. In the fourth, Farrell, being held by two Colonels defenders, was able to get a shot on goal from the top of the crease unassisted. Anderson finished off the scoring with a look from the right side of the crease.

Colby Opromolla led the Colonels with a goal, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers while Hunter Riley led the team with five ground balls and Luke Wawrzynek won nine faceoffs.

Franco earned the win for the Warriors, making 15 saves on 37 shots, picking up two ground balls. Joseph Marino made 12 saves for the Colonels on 36 shots.

The Warriors return to the field on Saturday, April 15, when they host Arcadia University in a 1 p.m. MAC Freedom matchup at UPMC Field at Keiper Stadium.
