Payton Whary (Coal Township, Pa./Shamokin Area) tossed five scoreless innings in the first game and junior
Kylie Russell (Jersey Shore, Pa./jersey Shore Area) threw six scoreless frames in the second one to lead the Lycoming College softball team to a sweep of Albright College, winning 4-1 and 8-0, in non-conference action at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Wednesday, March 29.

Whary (5-1) allowed four hits and struck out four during five innings of work to earn the win in the first game, while Russell (4-3) threw a complete game two-hit shutout in the second, striking out seven and extending her consecutive scoreless innings streak to 18 1/3.

Lycoming (12-4 overall) wrapped 15 hits in the second game to secure the run-rule win, with senior
Morgan Wetzel (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) and junior
Rachel DeWolfe (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) each homering in the game. Wetzel went 3-for-4 with two runs and a RBI and DeWolfe went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Sophomore
Rachel Daub (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale Area) went 3-for-3 with a run and a RBI, junior
Kylie Segraves (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) went 2-for-4 with a run and sophomore
Avery Eiswerth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI.

Daub and Eiswerth got the Warriors started with singles in the second inning before a fielder's choice retired Daub. A sac bunt moved runners to second and third before a passed ball scored Eiswerth and Russell drove in the second run with a double in the gap.

In the third inning, Wetzel hit a line drive homer with one out. Daub singled with two outs before reaching second on a passed ball and scoring on a single from Eiswerth.

In the fourth, Segraves and Wetzel singled with two outs before DeWolfe and Daub followed with RBI singles. In the fifth, senior pinch-hitter
Madalyn Bechdel (Beech Creek, Pa./Central Mountain) singled with one out, moved to second on a wild pitch, third on a groundout and scored on a single from first-year
Claire Alexander (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area). DeWolfe iced the win with a homer to left center to lead off the sixth.

Russell was in control throughout the game, striking out five in a row at one point and allowing just two singles in the win.

Jadelyn Van Winkle (1-4) took the loss for the Lions (2-10 overall), allowing 11 hits and five earned runs in four innings. She struck out two.

Daub went 2-for-2 with two RBI to lead the Warriors in the first game, as Lycoming posted a 4-1 win, holding the Lions to just six hits.

Three walks, a hit batter and a wild pitch helped Lycoming score two runs in the first inning before they added two more in the third inning. Wetzel singled with one out, took second on a wild pitch and scored on a double from Eiswerth. Daub also followed with a double to bring in Eiswerth.

Eiswerth pitched the last two innings, allowing two hits and a run.

Kathryn Baptiste (0-3) pitched six innings, allowing four runs, six hits and five walks. She struck out two.

Jadelyn Van Winkle went 2-for-3 with a run and double and Heather Pmante also had two hits for the Lions.

The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, April 1, when they head to Arcadia University for a 1 p.m. MAC Freedom doubleheader.
