WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Brayden Wise '23 (Baltimore, Md./ Archbishop Curley) was drafted in the second round of the Major Arena Soccer League Draft by the Baltimore Blast on Thursday, Dec. 21, the league has announced.
The MASL represents the highest level of professional indoor soccer in the world. The MASL features teams across North America, with teams playing coast-to-coast in the United States and Mexico, and players from over 15 countries. The Baltimore Blast play in SECU Arena, which seats 3,580 for soccer games on the 150-foot by 85-foot field.
MASL is a fast-paced 6-v-6 game that often features 10 combined goals in a 60-minute game, which is played in arenas with hockey boards and also features penalties.
The Blast, who won three straight championships from 2016-18 and were the league runners-up in 2023, has two affiliates, the Baltimore Arsenal of MASL2 and Baltimore Kings of MASL3, as well.
Wise, who was also the 2023 Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year, served as Lycoming's beating heart as an outside back. He posted four goals during the season and played a major role in each of the team's 11 shutouts, as opponents averaged less than 10 shots per game against the Warrior backline. He is the first two-time player of the year in program history, earning MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2022.
Wise is the third Lycoming men's soccer player to earn three all-region accolades in a career, joining Jordan Logan '19 and Abdullahi Abdi '18, as he was a first-team defender in 2021 and 2023 and a second-team pick in 2022 in Region IV.
The Warriors finished 11-4-6 overall and 7-0-2 in the Landmark Conference under head coach
Nate Gibboney, becoming the first program in school history to reach a Landmark Conference Championship game.
