Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Warriors edged out by Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. – A run of 10 straight points over a four-and-a-half minute span late in the second half helped the Lycoming College men's basketball team close within a point with 1:35 left, but Haverford College scored the last four points to post a 70-65 non-conference win at Calvin Gooding Arena on Wednesday evening, Nov. 15.

Down 66-55 with 6:37 left, the Warriors began a run of 10 straight points, with sophomore J.J. Beagle (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) scoring the last four to key the run, hitting a baby hook with 1:35 left to make it 66-65. Sophomore Isaiah Valentine (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) grabbed a rebound and Lycoming had a chance to take the lead, but a jump ball gave the ball back to the Fords (), who hit all four of their free throws in the final minute.

Beagle led the Warriors with 17 points, eight rebounds and three blocks and Valentine posted 16 points and eight rebounds. Senior Steven Hamilton (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) added 15 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Haverford jumped out in the game's first 14 minutes, leading 35-18 after a pair of free throws from Nick Klaiber, but a 12-4 run in the final minutes of the half, keyed by seven points from Valentine, cut the deficit to 37-30 at the break. Haverford got the lead back to 15 with 12 minutes left in the game, but Lycoming cut it down to a five-point game before the Fords got the lead back to 11 with 6:37 left, setting up the ending.

Brandon Banadda had 16 points to lead Fords and Gaven Marr posted 14 points and five rebounds. Gabriel Franklin added 12 points and Klaiber posted 11. Logan Brown led all rebounders with nine.

The Warriors are back in action on Sunday, Nov. 26, when they head to Wilson College for a 1 p.m. non-conference game.
