Warriors draw with Susquehanna, retain Boot

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Junior Kenny Clapp (Baltimore, Md./Archbisop Curley) scored the tying goal in the second half for the Lycoming College men's soccer team in a 1-1 draw against Susquehanna University in the Battle of the Boot on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at UPMC Field, to retain the Boot for the seventh straight year.

Clapp's goal in the 66th minute of the game was set up by sophomore Owen Magee (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove), who dribbled down the far side of the field to Clapp in the left corner of the box. Clapp's resulting shot hit the back right corner of the goal.

Susquehanna's goal by Owen Healey in the first half, was shot from just outside the left goal post, after Healey dribbled into the box and kept the ball after a slide tackle.

Lycoming sophomore goalkeeper Nick Wilke (Mercerville, N.J./Notre Dame), and River Hawks goalkeeper, Gerrit Stech, were even on the night with five saves each.

The Warriors return to the field on Saturday, Sept. 10, when they travel to Haverford College for a 2:30 p.m. kick off.
