Warriors post first shutout over Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa. – Goals by sophomore Alexandria Horafus (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) and first-year Tayah Bauer (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) propelled the Lycoming College field hockey team to a 2-0 victory over Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Donald H. Funk Field.

In the Warriors' first shutout of the season, Horafus opened the scoring in the sixth minute after a pass from sophomore Katie Maguire (Garnerville, N.Y./Albertus Magnus). Horafus took the shot in the middle of a scramble.

Bauer's unassisted goal at 32:38 found the back of the net after Bauer caught the ball off the rebound of a shot off Hoover's foot on the goal line for her first goal of the season.

The Warriors (2-5 overall) outshot the Chargers, 14-5, as first-year goalkeeper Isabella Bobé (York Springs, Pa./Bermudian Springs) made four saves to earn the win. Amanda Hoover made five saves for the Chargers.

The Chargers fall to 0-6 overall.

The Warriors return to the field on Saturday, Sept. 24, when they host King's College at 1 p.m. at UPMC Field.
