Jordan earns inaugural Sinnott Award

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Awarded to an athlete that has made significant contributions to his or her team, has excelled in his or her academic studies and demonstrated personal character traits of the highest caliber, the inaugural Robert J. Sinnott '81 Award has been given to the men's soccer team's Luke Jordan (Greenwich, N.Y./Greenwich Central).

Jordan is a two-time captain of the men's soccer team, serving his first year as captain during the team's 2020-21 season when the fall was canceled and the team played just four exhibition games. His leadership was vital in keeping the team together, though, as the squad posted a 3-1 record and allowed just two goals in those four games. This year, despite missing time due to COVID, Jordan's leadership was once again key for a team that recorded eight shutouts.

In his academic studies, Jordan is dedicated, to say the least. Biology professor Doctor Mary Morrison said, "Luke is a livewire intellectually and a pleasure to have around the lab. He has been preparing for medical school since the day he set foot on our campus."

He was a four-time MAC Academic Honor Roll selection and a member in four honor societies on campus, plus he received one of the NCAA's prestigious Postgraduate Scholarships earlier this year.

Jordan has also made an impact throughout campus. He was a three-time president of the Student-Athlete Advisory committee, a Vice-President of the Middle Atlantic Conference SAAC group, worked as a student senator, a member of the Unifying Student Leadership committee and worked on committees with The Alliance. All that was encapsulated when Luke was honored as the 2022 Chieftain Award winner, the highest honor given to a graduating senior who has contributed the most to Lycoming College.
