Payton Whary (Coal Township, Pa./Shamokin Area) fired a three-hit shutout to lead the Lycoming College softball team to a 6-0 win over Albright College in the nightcap and senior
Angie King (Cooperstown, Pa./Maplewood) went 6-for-6 in the doubleheader, as Lycoming split the games after falling in the first game, 2-1, on Tuesday, April 5.

The Warriors (5-13 overall) jumped out with three runs in the first inning of the second game and never looked back, as Whary (3-4) allowed just three singles to earn her first shutout of the year.

King went 4-for-4 with a run and two RBI and both senior
Kacee Reitz (Milton, Pa./Milton Area) and sophomore
Kylee Segraves (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) had two hits and two runs. Junior
Mackenzie Glosek (Coal Township, Pa./Shamokin Area) also added two hits, a double and two RBI.

Reitz walked to lead off the first before Segraves doubles, setting up an RBI single from first-year
Rachel Daub (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale Area). Klosko was hit by a pitch to load the bases for King, who singled. After a flyout, Glosek also singled to make it 3-0.

King scored in the third after leading off with a single before coming around on a double from Glosek.

Reitz and Segraves singled to lead off the fourth. After Segraves stole second and a pair of popups, a passed ball allowed Reitz to score before King drove in Segraves with a single.

Kiera Reilly led the Lions (2-16 overall) in the game, going 2-for-2. Laura Costello (1-2) tossed four innings to take the loss, allowing 10 hits and four earned runs.

Despite three hits and two doubles from Daub and two hits a piece from senior
Morgan Klosko (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) and King, the Lions were able to take advantage of single runs in the first and fifth innings to win 2-1.

The Warriors, who left 11 runners stranded in the game, scored their lone run in the third to tie the game after both sophomore
Kylie Russell (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) and Daub reached on error and then used a double steal before Klosko doubled to score Russell.

Allison Melahn went 2-for-2 and scored both runs for the Lions and Kathryn Baptiste went 2-for-3 with a RBI.

Melahn (1-1) earned the win, allowing seven hits and a run in the complete game. She walked two and struck out six. Russell (0-2) took the loss, allowing two hits and a walk in three innings. She struck out five.

The Warriors get back on the field on Wednesday, April 6, when they host Penn College at 3 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
