WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior
Morgan Wetzel (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) led the Lycoming College softball team with three hits and a homer on Sunday, April 10, as it fell to Arcadia in a MAC Freedom doubleheader, 9-1 and 15-2, at UPMC Field.

Wetzel finished 3-for-7 with her first homer of the year and two RBI in the doubleheader and senior
Angie King (Cooperstown, Pa./Maplewood) and first-year
Rachel Daub (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale Area) each had hits in both games for the Warriors (5-15 overall, 0-6 MAC Freedom).

The Warriors took the lead in the first game of the doubleheader, as junior
Kacee Reitz (Milton, Pa./Milton Area) led off with a walk before coming around to score on a double to the gap by Daub.

The Knights (20-5 overall, 7-1 MAC Commonwealth) were held off the board until the fourth inning, when they scored four runs before adding two in the fifth and three in the seventh to take the 9-1 decision.

Effie Jaminis led the Knights, going 3-for-4 with two runs, Morgan Tripodi scored three runs and Madi Costigan drove four in.

Sophomore
Kylie Russell (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) (0-3) took the loss, allowing seven hits and four runs in four innings. She walked two and struck out five. Brenna Dolan tossed a four-hitter to earn the win, walking three and striking out four.

The Knights scored in all five innings of the second game en route to a 15-2, five-inning win.

Arcadia broke open the game with a seven-run second before Wetzel hit her home run, a solo shot to left to lead off the bottom of the second.

The Knights scored three more in the third to lead 11-1 before Lycoming scored another run in the bottom of the inning, as Reitz walked with one out, moved to second on a walk and scored on a single to right from Wetzel.

Wetzel led the Warriors, going 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI.

Grace Caldwell led the Knights with three runs and three RBI and Costigam went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Julianna Presto (13-2) tossed a complete-game six-hitter for the Knights, striking out six and walking two. Junior
Payton Whary (Coal Township, Pa./Shamokin Area) (3-5) allowed six hits, seven earned runs and three walks in the start for the Warriors.

Before the start of the game, the Warriors honored the team's four seniors: team manager
Morgan Christine, King, first baseman and designated player
Morgan Klosko and Reitz.

The Warriors get back on the field on Tuesday, April 12, when the Warriors host Misericordia University in a 3 p.m. MAC Freedom doubleheader.
