WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – First-year
Kailey Stocker (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) posteda career-high six goals to lead the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team, which outscored Wilkes University in all four quarters en route to a 16-9 win at UPMC Field on Wednesday, April 13.
First-years
Katie Maguire (Garnerville, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) and
Erin Henn (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sayville) each added three goals and two assists and senior
Erika Boyer (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) posted a goal and three assists. Maguire also caused four turnovers and grabbed six ground balls. Sophomore
Rylie Cranmer (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) notched two goals.
Sophomore
Zoe Stauffer (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) was also tremendous in goal, making 12 saves, including five fourth-quarter saves to keep Wilkes from getting within five goals. She also scooped up three ground balls.
Senior
Emma Lehr (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) got the Warriors (6-7 overall, 2-3 MAC Freedom) on the board two and a half minutes in and Maguire and Stocker helped put the Warriors ahead for good later in the quarter. Wilkes (3-9 overall, 1-4 MAC Freedom) closed within one at 3-2, but Boyer scored 40 seconds later to make it 4-2 with 5:17 left in the first quarter.
The Warriors added two more goals early in the second quarter to make it 6-2, but Wilkes closed within two a pair of times later in the half before Maguire scored on a free-position shot with 1:45 left and Stocker added a goal with nine seconds left to give Lycoming a 9-5 advantage at the break.
Lycoming scored twice to start the third quarter and Wilkes was only able to cut the lead to four goals before Stocker scored twice in the last 30 seconds of the quarter off gives from Henn before the Warriors scored the first two goals in the fourth to lead by eight and put the game away.
Junior
Tess Arnold (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira) had five groundballs and two caused turnovers and junior
Madison Wineburg (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) had three caused turnovers and four ground balls.
Wilkes was led by two goals and an assist from Savannah Bauman. Laura Bayzick grabbed eight draw controls and Ashley Coughlin had four ground balls and stopped six shots in goal.
The Warriors get back on the field on Wednesday, April 20, when they host DeSales at 6 p.m. at UPMC Field.
