WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior
Erika Boyer (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) led the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team with a career-best seven goals to lead the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team, which took control with a nine-goal second quarter in a 19-7 win over Saint Vincent on Sunday, March 27, at UPMC Field.
Boyer, who also had seven points in Friday's win over Manhattanville with four goals and three assists, had hat tricks in both the first and second quarters to lead a group of four Warriors (4-4 overall) with at least four points. Junior
Tess Arnold (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira) had a goal, four assists, three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers, first-year
Kailey Stocker (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) had four goals and first-year
Katie Maguire (Garnerville, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) also posted four goals to go with six draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Four Warriors now have 20 points this year, with Stocker (18 goals, two assists) and Arnold (seven goals, 16 assists) and and Boyer (16 goals, nine assists) reaching the mark during the game, while Maguire (29 goals) leads the team in points.
Both first-year
Erin Henn (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sayville) and senior
Emma Lehr (Danville, Pa./Danville) each posted a goal and an assist, with Lehr adding five draw controls. Sophomore
Rylie Cranmer (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) posted three caused turnovers.
Boyer scored a pair of goals in the game's first 69 seconds and when she added her third with 2:41 left in the first quarter, the Warriors held a 5-2 lead. The Bearcats (4-5 overall) scored the last goal of the first quarter, but the Warriors scored all nine in the second, with Maguire and Boyer each posting hat tricks in the period to take a 14-3 lead into the break after Boyer scored in transition off a give from Arnold as time expired on the half.
The Bearcats scored the first goal of the second half, but the Warriors did hold a 5-4 advantage in the last two quarters.
Bridget Doyle led the Bearcats with three goals, Maggie Edwards added four ground balls, Kaylee Bandow led the team with five draw controls and Luciana Polk caused two turnovers.
Sophomore
Zoe Stauffer (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) finished with five saves to earn the win, becoming the 16
th Warrior to reach 100 saves in a season with her first of the game. Juliana Tambellini stopped six shots for the Bearcats.
The Warriors get back on the field on Wednesday, March 30, when they head to Misericordia for a 4 p.m. MAC Freedom game.
