Manuel, Harward lead Warriors against Aggies

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior DeAundre Manuel (Brooklyn, N.Y./KIPP NYC Prep) scored 21 points, one shy of his career high, and junior Dyson Harward (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) became the 27th player in program history to reach 500 career rebounds to lead the Lycoming College men's basketball team, which fell to Delaware Valley, 67-60, in MAC Freedom action on Saturday, Feb. 5, at Lamade Gym.
 
The Warriors (13-8 overall, 8-4 MAC Freedom) fell back into a tie for second in the MAC Freedom with Stevens, who also has an identical 8-4 record, while Delaware Valley (12-8 overall, 8-5 MAC Freedom) and Arcadia are a half-game back at 8-5.
 
Manuel finished with 21 points, five rebounds and three blocks to lead the team and Harward finished with 10 points and 17 rebounds for his league-leading 12th double-double of the season. He also added four assists and two blocks. Junior Mo Terry (Severn, Md./Severn School) posted 10 points, four rebounds and two steals and sophomore Steven Hamilton (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) added eight points.
 
The Warriors trailed for the final 33 minutes of the game, but pushed within two points with 5:52 left after a free throw from Manuel. A 3-pointer from Matt Paulus with 4:11 left gave the Aggies a 58-52 advantage and the Warriors pushed to get back within a possession, doing so with 1:19 left after a pair of free throws from sophomore Mavin James (Danville, Pa./Danville Area). The Aggies scored the next six points, hitting 4-of-6 free throws and a getting a fastbreak dunk, to clinch the win.
 
The Aggies started the game with six straight points before the Warriors responded with seven, taking a 7-6 lead four minutes into the game off a 3-pointer from Hamilton. The pressing Aggies scored five straight points to get the lead back and a 13-5 run late in the half gave the Aggies a 34-24 advantage, taking a seven-point lead into halftime.
 
The Aggies led by 11 early in the second half, but the Warriors closed within three off a fastbreak layup from Manuel with 13:32 left and kept the Aggies within eight points until there were 19 seconds left.
 
Pernell Ghee led the Aggies with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Thomas Ibidapo added 14 points and eight rebounds.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Feb. 8, when they head to Wilkes University for an 8 p.m. MAC Freedom game.
