WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore
Meghan Dufner (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) posted 15 points to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball team as it fell 77-57 to Goucher College in non-conference action on Friday, Dec. 30, on the final day of the Hoops for Hounds Classic at Lamade Gym.

Grace Rittenhouse led Alfred University to their second win of the classic, scoring 23 points in an 82-60 win over Baruch College.

Dufner posted four rebounds and two assists on top of her 15 points. Sophomore
Ashley Yoh (Myerstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon County) finished with 13 points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal and junior
Emily Lockard (Benton, Pa./Benton) notched nine points, a team-high 11 rebounds, two assists and four blocks. First-year
Victoria Burton (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) also posted nine points, two rebounds and three steals.

The Warriors (4-8 overall) scored 24 points from the paint and 12 on turnovers.

Dufner opened the game with a layup to kickstart six points on her end in the opening quarter. Lockard was good for two layups before Dufner, Lockard, and Yoh hit shots before Kyla Smith hit her second three-pointer of the quarter. Dufner ended the quarter with a layup to put the Warriors ahead, 16-13.

Goucher (3-9 overall) gained a lead in the final two minutes of the first half, as Kyla Smith led a nine-point run to give the Gophers a 33-27 lead. Burton highlighted the second quarter for the Warriors, hitting four free-throws and sophomore
Mya Wetzel (Frackville, Pa./North Schuylkill) drilled a 3-point shot as part of a five-point run.

The third quarter saw a flurry of three-pointers, seven in total between the two teams, as first-year
Kami Abdo (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM) and Dufner connected on back-to-back possessions, and Wetzel nailed the third for the Warriors.

Dufner had six points in the fourth quarter, hitting a three-point shot to open the quarter and added three free throws but the Gophers scored 26 points in the quarter to expand an 11-point lead to 20 at the end of the game.

Kyla Smith, who leads the Landmark in scoring, led Goucher with a Hoops for Hounds Classic-record 38 points. She also notched four rebounds, six assists and three steals. Kyani Quarles and Kendra Lawrence led the team with 10 rebounds apiece.

The Warriors return to action in 2023 on Wednesday, Jan. 4, when they face MAC Freedom opponent DeSales University at 4 p.m. at Lamade Gym.
