WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Unassisted goals by first-year
Keller Chamovitz (Sewickly, Pa./Quaker Valley) and junior
Joe Bamfo (Lake Grove, N.Y./Connetquot) pushed the regionally-ranked Lycoming College men's soccer team to a 2-0 shutout of MAC Freedom opponent King's College on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at McCarthy Stadium.
With two games left in the MAC Freedom schedule, the Warriors (8-4-4 overall, 4-2 MAC Freedom) are in a three-way tie for second in the conference standings with 12 points and need two points to clinch a berth in the MAC Freedom Championship.
Chamovitz opened the scoring in the second minute from the top left corner of the box on a rocket of a shot through a swarm of players in front of the goal.
Bamfo's goal in the 48
th minute came from the top of the box as well, as he dented the twine on another hard shot to left side of the net.
Junior goalkeeper
Nick Wilke (Mercerville, N.J./Notre Dame) recorded two saves for his fourth shutout of the season and the Warriors' sixth. Jake Forst made eight saves on the Warriors' 18 shots for the Monarchs (4-10-2 overall, 0-5 MAC Freedom).
The Warriors return to the field on Saturday, Oct. 22, when they host DeSales University in MAC Freedom action at 3 p.m. at UPMC Field, needing a win to secure a conference championship slot.
