WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior
Bella Green (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) scored her 10
th goal of the season, to mark the second straight year she reached double digits and that was the only score, as the Lycoming College women's soccer team set a program record with its ninth blank sheet of the year in a 1-0 Senior Day win over regionally-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday, Oct. 15, at UPMC Field.
Â
A stellar job by the Warriors' defense held the Ducks (5-6-3 overall, 4-1 MAC Freedom), ranked seventh in the lastest United Soccer Coaches Region IV poll, scoreless for all 90 minutes, making way for Green's goal in the 70
th minute. A free-kick awarded to the Warriors  (9-4-2 overall, 3-2 MAC Freedom) taken by sophomore
Haley Schafer (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney), set up Green's goal as Schafer's shot from the top of the Ducks' defensive zone found first-year
Abigail Umhoefer (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) at the left goal post before Green snuck the shot in from the right post.
Â
Sophomore goalkeeper
Abbey Gerasimoff (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) finished the game with five saves. Zoe Hindman and Dana Perry combined for two saves for the Ducks.
Â
The Warriors return to the field on Tuesday, Oct. 18, when they take on King's College in MAC Freedom action at 4 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
