GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – A red-hot offense for the Lycoming College women's soccer team could not be stopped by Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 4, as the Warriors dominated in a 8-0 victory to kickstart their 2021 season at the Gwynedd Mercy Athletic Complex.

Senior midfielder
Jayden Leighow (Unityville, Pa./Hughesville) scored the first goal of the game in the second minute. She also scored the second goal as well, assisted by
Bridget Maaluom (Lynbrook, N.Y./Sacred Hear Academy) and completed her first hat trick in the second half.

Syndey Sellers (Huntington, Pa./Huntington Area) added the third goal, before others followed in the period from Maaluom, junior
Bella Green (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) and junior
Rorie Bass Foresman (Danville, Pa./Danville Area).

Green scored twice in the game to go with two assists, scoring off an assist by sophomore defender
Evelyn Cronise (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) as well as the final goal for the Warriors.

First-year goalkeeper
Abbey Gerasimoff (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) earned her first shutout as a Warrior, stopping two shots from the Griffins in her collegiate debut.

Molly Flemming stopped nine shots in net for the Griffins.

The Warriors return to play on Sunday, Sept. 5, against Mount Aloysius at 1 p.m., at UPMC Field.
