WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – First-year
Brynne Bisel (Julian, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) and sophomore
Megan Starkweather (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) each had double-doubles to pace the Lycoming College volleyball team, but Penn State Altoona was able to edge out a 3-1 (29-27, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21) win in non-conference action at Lamade Gym on Thursday night, Sept. 23.

Bisel finished with 13 kills and 13 digs and Starkweather posted 35 assists, 11 digs and three blocks to lead the Warriors (5-7 overall). First-year
Camryn Quelet (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) added eight kills, as did junior
Elizabeth Kelson (Denville, N.J./Morris Catholic), who also posted three blocks. First-year
Ali Koval (Mansfield, Pa./North Penn-Mansfield) scooped up 35 digs and first-year
Arianna Santos (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) posted three aces.

The Warriors and Lions fought through six ties and six lead changes in the first set, with the Warriors getting two match points after being behind 24-19, but Altoona was able to close out the win. The Warriors lead 14-10 in the second set before a 15-5 run by Altoona helped it take a 2-0 lead.

The Warriors came back from down 20-17 in the third set, winning eight of the last 11 points, with a pair of kills from Quelet breaking the last tie at 23 and closing the set. Altoona led 16-9 in the fourth set before the Warriors made a run, closing within a point at 21-20 before the Lions were able to close out the win.

Lydia Mock posted 20 kills and 16 digs, Lacee Barnhart notched 14 kills and 14 digs and Makenna Bauer posted 14 kills and 11 digs for the Lions (5-1 overall). Kayla Moran finished with 50 assists and Erin Lutz posted 24 digs.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Sept. 25, when they head to Stockton University for a tri-match, facing NYU at 1 p.m. and Stockton at 3 p.m.
