Warriors fall twice at Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J. – Junior Elizabeth Kelson (Denville, N.J./Morris Catholic) posted 12 kills to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team, which put together a gritty effort, but ultimately falling 3-1 to Stockton University to cap off a tri-match at the Stockton Sports Center on Saturday, Sept. 25. The Warriors fell 3-0 to 19th-ranked NYU in the opening match.
 
Kelson led the Warriors (5-9 overall) with 12 kills and five blocks in the second match and first-year Brynne Bisel (Julian, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) added eight kills and eight digs. Sophomore Megan Starkweather (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) notched 23 assists, four kills and an ace and first-year Sydney Guethlein (Cincinnati, Ohio/West Clermont) posted three aces. First-year Ali Koval (Mansfield, Pa./North Penn-Mansfield) finished with 22 digs and first-year Kendall Myers (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) added 11.
 
The Warriors notched a match-high 11 kills in the third set, with Bisel and first-year Camryn Quelet (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) posting kills after it was tied at 24 to clinch the win.
 
Charlotte Leon posted 16 kills to lead the Ospreys (5-11 overall). Aubrey Rentzel notched 42 assists, Molly Eng had five aces and 24 digs and Jaylah Rolle posted five blocks.
 
Nationally-ranked NYU hit .253 as a game Lycoming team forced 13 hitting errors, but fell 3-0 (25-10, 25-18, 25-14).
 
Bisel had five kills to lead the Warriors and Starkweather had seven assists and two aces. Koval had 14 digs and both Kelson and Guethlein had two blocks.
 
Haley Holz posted 10 kills, Abby Ausmus had six blocks, Nicole Dao had three aces and Lindsey Hirano posted 22 digs to lead the Violets (12-0 overall).
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Tuesday, Sept. 18, when they head to Wilson College for a 7 p.m. first serve.
