Leighow strikes twice in 2-1 win over Keuka

KEUKA PARK, N.Y.- Senior Jayden Leighow (Unityville, Pa./Hughesville) struck twice in the first half to lift the Lycoming College women's soccer team over Keuka College on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 11., at Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Keuka College (0-4-1 overall) opened the game with a goal in the 13th minute from Grace DeCapua, but the Warriors' (2-1 overall) first goal from Leighow tied the game 1-1 in the 29th minute of the first half, earning her fourth goal of the season. The goal was assisted by senior Alicia Blizzard (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest), her first assist of the season.

Leighow scored again off a give from junior Bridget Maaluom (Lynbrook, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy), in the final minute of the first half, lifting the Warriors to a 2-1 lead that they held onto for the remainder of the game thanks to senior goalkeeper Jess Riordan (Vineland, N.J./Our Lady of Mercy) and a defense that allowed just two shots in the period.

Riordan made four saves on five shots on goal from the Wolves while Keuka goalkeeper Sam Pelcher made 11 saves on 13 shots on goal.

The Warriors head to Penn State Altoona for a 1 p.m. game on Sunday, Sept. 12.
