DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – A 30-yard bullet from the right side found the upper left corner in the 29th minute from the foot of senior
Alicia Blizzard (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) to lift the Lycoming College women's soccer team to a 1-0 MAC Freedom win over Delaware Valley on Saturday, Oct. 9, at James Work Memorial Stadium.
Â
Lycoming (9-3-1 overall, 2-0-1 MAC Freedom) took 16 shots in the game, keeping Delaware Valley (6-4, 0-3 MAC Freedom) to just five. Lycoming also had all six corner kicks in the matchup. In the process, the Warriors moved into a tie for first in the conference with Stevens with seven points as the team heads into its conference bye on Tuesday.
Â
Blizzard picked off an Aggie pass at about the 35-yard line, took one dribble and fired her shot over the leaping Delaware Valley keeper.
Â
With four goals and three assists for 11 points, Blizzard is one of five Warriors with at least 10 points this year, joining junior
Bella Green (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) (30), senior
Jayden Leighow (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville Area) (26), junior
Bridget Maaloum (Lynbrook, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) (12) and junior
Kylie Magaro (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) (12). It was the first time since Annie Harmon, Lee Anne Belke, Jess Forliano, Carolyn Tascione and Pam Featenby reached the plateau in 1997.
Â
First-year
Abbey Gerasimoff (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) notched three saves and the team was also credited for a defensive save. Olivia Sherwood posted nine saves for the Aggies.

Lycoming gets back into action on Saturday, Oct. 16, when they host FDU-Florham in a key MAC Freedom matchup at 12 p.m., at UPMC Field.
